Illustration / CARE AFTER SAFE CONTAINMENTA humane live trap is an enclosure designed to contain an animal alive. It is a recovery tool, used with a plan for the individual pet, appropriate equipment, monitoring, and a prompt response.
The pet’s size, behavior, confirmed activity, and location help determine whether trapping is appropriate and what equipment is needed.
Monitoring, weather, site access, and who will respond are part of the plan. A set trap needs responsible oversight.
Safe containment is a step toward home. The recovery plan also needs a safe handoff to the owner and veterinary attention when appropriate.

Thermal drone observations can help focus the search area. Confirmed sightings and the pet’s behavior then inform whether humane trapping may be a useful next step.

We’re developing Captured Hearts as a Virginia nonprofit, with plans for a governing board and a team of members working toward one goal: helping missing pets get home.
The program is being built to bring drone searches, location confirmation, and humane trapping support together. We’ll share formation, team, and service updates as those pieces are established.
Nonprofit formation and humane trapping program in developmentBased in New Kent, we discuss missing-pet searches in the Richmond and Williamsburg areas and across Eastern Virginia. Share your county and last confirmed sighting so we can assess travel, access, and availability.
Deployment and trapping support are arranged case by case. Call for current availability before making plans around a search.
Talk through your situation ↗The humane trapping program is being developed. Contact us to discuss your situation and confirm equipment, monitoring, team availability, and the scope of support before arranging a recovery.
Contact us to discuss a coordinated recovery plan. Trapping decisions should account for the individual animal, the site, appropriate equipment, and a reliable monitoring and response arrangement.
No search or trapping method can guarantee a recovery. We’ll discuss feasibility, availability, scope, and any charges before work is arranged. A planned nonprofit structure does not mean every service is free.
